So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu. In February, 2008 the doors opened to a new contemporary art gallery in Katoomba, sometimes called “Australia’s First City of the Arts”. In July, 2011 the gallery closed for good. Over the last three and a half years, the Event Horizon Gallery hosted dozens of exhibitions by local artists; both established and emerging. I’m especially proud of the fact we were able to give so many artists their very first ever public exposure. Finally, however, the gallery had to succumb to the economic climate of the day and, dare I say, a difficult market. Art, it appears, is not something on most people’s must-have list. Maybe it’s the economy … maybe something else. Whatever! To the clients, artists and guests who, over the years, became involved with the gallery I say thank you. You gave the experience light and joy. May the art be with you. So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu.
